Should I Book My Excursions Online or Once I Arrive in Punta Cana?

We get this question a lot and while the answer is very clear to us it’s somewhat hard to answer because we offer Punta Cana excursions online and it feels like we’re trying to sell you on the idea of buying online from us.

Here’s why we strongly recommend booking your excursions before coming to Punta Cana:

1- Choose the date YOU want, not the other way around

When you book online in advance there’s a 99% chance you’ll be able to book your tour for the date you want and not have to choose from available dates because the day you wanted is sold out.

I don’t know about you but I like planning my vacation in advance and make sure I get to do what I want!

2- Take advantage of online discounts and save some money

Most tours in Punta Cana offer discounted prices if you book online ahead of time. These discounts can range from 5% up to 10%, this may not seem like much but it’s a great way to save some money so you can spend it on something else and a great way for families to save some serious cash!

3- You can take your time making your decision

Where do you think you can make a better decision? peacefully at home, reading all the details and reviews of the tours you want to do, comparing prices and calmly doing the math of what you can afford…

OR

In a busy hotel lobby with people impatiently waiting in line after you and a pushy vendor trying to make a quick sale so he can move on to the next person in line.

4- Avoid waiting in line

You can avoid long lines in the hotel lobby. The majority of people wait until arriving to Punta Cana to book their excursions so long lines form in the hotel lobby to speak to the representatives of each excursion.

5- Avoid pushy vendors

Personally I hate pushy vendors and that’s what you might have to deal with if you wait until you are at your resort in Punta Cana to book your tour.

Many tour providers employ the same vendors and since they work on commission they’ll try to push the tours that give them the highest commission.

6- Overcome the language barrier

While most vendors speak english many are not fluent which makes it hard for you to communicate your needs and wants properly or to perfectly understand what you’re paying for.

Online you have the option to read all the excursion details in english as well as to communicate via e-mail, live chat or phone with fluent english speaking locals like myself.

When booking excursions abroad, I often find it hard and slow to communicate. Dealing with Jhon at iheartdr was the complete opposite.

What set Jhon and iheartdr apart from the other booking agents was his instant communication and fluent English.

I couldn’t recommend using iheartdr enough. Pricing is extremely competitive, customer service is exceptional.

7- Avoid carrying extra cash and international credit card charges

Paying online is fast, secure and convenient. If you choose to wait until you arrive in Punta Cana to book your excursion you’ll most likely have to pay in cash or incur in international credit card fees.

Common Questions

1. Is it cheaper to book excursions in advance?

In most cases, yes!

2. Should i book excursions before going to Punta Cana?

We strongly recommend it.

3. Should I book excursions online or at resort?

Most excursions can be booked both online or at your resort, however some tours are available exclusively online. We honestly can’t see any advantages of waiting until you arrive in Punta Cana to book your excursions.

Common Objections to Booking Online

1 – Activities and tours almost never actually sell out

This may have been true a few years ago when there was a clear difference between high and low season in Punta Cana but in recent years the line between busy and off season has become blurry.

Punta Cana is now busy all year round and while it’s true that not every tour is always sold out it’s likely that you won’t be able to go on the excursion you want on the day you want…

2 – You’ll almost always be overpaying in advance

This is actually false. Online prices are, in most cases, lower than what you’d find at the resorts.

3- You’ll be forced to go on the tour even if your plans change or loose your money

Not true. You are protected by our Worry Free Guarantee:
