What is the legal drinking age for All-Inclusive resorts? That is a question that has been asked numerous times. There is a lot of information out there, including having to be 21 to be served.

The legal drinking age in Punta Cana and the rest of the Dominican Republic is 18.

All-Inclusive Resorts

They follow the legal requirements, although occasionally someone younger who is with parents may get served. However, colored bands indicate whether the traveler is over 18.

The employees of this resort are careful, as they don’t wish to jeopardize their employment. The resorts follow the legal requirements.

If someone younger gets served, it is on the server’s responsibility. However, if you are under 18, you should wait to visit, if all you care about is drinking.

So Much Else to Do Aside From Drinking

There is so much going on at the All-Inclusive resorts that a teenager need not drink to have fun. Additionally, for teens with legal friends, there are many cool drinks that can be made, without the addition of alcohol, that taste great.

Some Hard Lessons

Discussions with parents have shown that some teens have to learn the hard way about drinking moderately; those underage are even more prone to overindulge. Teens that get sick from drinking do not get a chance to enjoy a vacation that should be a wonderful relaxing and fun experience.

Comments from a few years ago indicate that some teens younger than 18 were being served.

Special Cocktails Without Alcohol

There is non-alcoholic beer and non-alcoholic wine that is said to sometimes be served at the bars in Punta Cana. However, some travelers have never seen it.

Instead, opt for the fun drinks and juice drinks that are available, such as the Majestic, that contain no alcohol; you can get the color, flavor, and coolness of the drink, without the punch; those under 18 will appreciate not seeming different from their siblings or friends.

It is not worth having the resort lose their license or an employee losing his job. That said, popular advice to those under 18 is to expect not to drink alcohol. Those over 18 can be served at swim-up bars as well as the other venues at the resort.

Nightclubs at the resort are also legal for guests over 18. Expect to have a fun vacation at your Punta Cana resort, whether you can drink legally or just have to experience one of the delicious specialty non-alcoholic drinks.
