There is no place in the world like Punta Cana. However, many visitors to the area choose not to venture out of their resorts, and a significant percentage that do try to see more of what the area has to offer elect to go on crowded group excursions that give you a few glimpses of scenery but do not really give you a good feel for this remarkable region of the Dominican Republic.

There is a way to truly experience the area while having a fantastic time driving one of the world’s finest off-road vehicles: the Punta Cana Jeep Safari Tour. This day-long outing takes you places you would never be able to see otherwise, and gives you an unusually intimate look at the many facets of this area. This extraordinary journey begins each morning with a visit to Playa Macao.

Uvero Alto Beach

In areas that are popular with tourists, it is difficult to find spots that are not developed and/or overrun with crowds of boisterous vacation-goers. However, Uvero Alto is amazingly untouched and unspoiled by resorts, hotels, or any kind of large development – and when you see the area for yourself you are sure to notice that it is also free of the often ubiquitous crowds of tourists.

Instead, you will see an unscathed landscape of pristine shoreline giving way to the endless, sparkling blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Before beginning the journey in earnest, you will have a chance to enjoy this ineffably gorgeous beach by swimming, finding reef rocks, shopping for one of a kind souvenirs at one of the small, improvised gift shops nearby, or simply relaxing in the sun. The wonderful Uvero Alto never fails to set the tone for the rest of the adventure through Punta Cana.

Butterfly Garden

The rugged and durable Jeep Wranglers provided enable you to get easily and comfortably through terrain that would otherwise be inaccessible, and along the way you will see both rice and sugar cane fields – two of the country’s most important resources. The tour makes its second stop at a small but beautiful garden specially growing a variety of exotic plants and flowers that create the perfect environment to naturally attract butterflies. Set your camera and get ready to capture these charming winged creatures like never before.

You will also walk through a big tropical garden where you’ll get a chance to taste the locally produced coffee and cocoa beans prepared specially for you in the ancient ways of the locals.

Uvero Alto Beach

After an extraordinary look at the local life and economy of the area, it is time to enjoy yet another unspoiled, immaculate piece of shoreline at the stunning Uvero Alto beach. At this point, it is also time to eat, and in this case will be nothing less than a traditional Dominican feast prepared for you on the beach.

Just like Playa Macao, Uvero Alto is uncrowded and exceptionally peaceful. In other words, the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal and one of the best ocean views anywhere.

Zipline & Horseback Riding

This action packed tour continues at the Horseplay ranch where you’ll enjoy the silence and breathtaking views while zip lining high above the ground through treetops and across open mountain valleys in the dominican Oriental mountain range.

Horseback riding is another fun activity you’ll enjoy at the horseplay ranch where each rider is matched to a well taken of horse depending on their weight, height and skill level. Wether you’re a novice or a pro rider your guide will adjust the speed and route to match your needs.

Roll Your Own Cigar

After Uvero Alto, the tour makes its way through paved and unpaved roads to explore the area even further. This is a chance to really see and get a feel of the real Dominican Republic. You’ll drive through the foothills of the Cordillera Oriental Mountain Range.

Although there is plenty of natural beauty to see throughout the Punta Cana Jeep Safari Tour, there are few views that can compete with the incredibly lush foliage and natural vistas on display here.

The tour stops at Rancho Real for a peek inside the production process of cigars. Here you will get a chance to roll your own and take it home as a souvenir! Dominican cigars are internationally recognized to share the spotlight with Cuban cigars.

The Punta Cana Jeep Safari Tour is a way to see and experience this region of the Dominican Republic in a way that many tourists miss out on.

Our group of four was picked up promptly by a friendly, professional tour guide Jay. We planned this trip to get to know more about the Dominican Republic and have some adventures as well. The trip to Christians plantation was very informative. Jay was knowledgeable and eager to share. We then ventured on to horseback riding and zip lining which were great as well. We continued on to a small cigar factory where we enjoyed a smoke and rolled our own. We ended on the beach with a delicious dinner. The tour guides thought of everything even down to turning the jeeps around as we were on each tour. We all thoroughly enjoyed his trip and highly recommend it.

The tour guides were great — very knowledgeable and funny. However, we felt the tour ran a little long and didn’t have to. There was a lot of driving and a lot of talking. Perhaps less of both would make this trip better. The sampling of fresh fruit and drinks at Christian’s was cool. The best part of this was definitely the end where we feasted on a wonderful traditional meal and enjoyed the beautiful beach. The excursion details said we’d go to Macao but we ended up at Playa Uvero Alto.

Thank you Trang for trusting us a second time by booking this tour. I’m sorry you found the tour to run a bit long, we just love our country so much that we want visitors to see as much as possible of it before heading back home :), however, we’ll take your comments into consideration for future route updates. I apologize for the beach visit change, vendors were bothering our clients too much in Macao since it’s a public beach and even though we LOVE Macao we choose to visit Uvero Alto instead to secure the tranquility of our customers. We have included this notice in the tour’s description page; thank you for bringing this to our attention and helping future guests make a more informed decision.

My wife and I had a great time doing the Jeep Safari in Punta cana. Let me start out by saying if you are a bit hoity toity and don’t want to see how life outside the glitz and glam of the resorts are, this one probably isn’t for you. If ya don’t mind sweating a bit, driving on public roads and experiencing the culture on a whole new level then I’d recommend it in a milisecond.

The 2 tour guides are awesome. To give a quick review, you start off going to a 50+ acre ranch to see a variety of local flora/plants and animals. They grow coffee and cocoa there and the owner is a chill dude with lineage back to the indigenous of the area. Next we went to a zipline/horse area. The zipline is safe, 1,000+ feet down to a tower across a river and 1,000+ feet back. The horse ride is about 20 mins. Next is a short drive to a Cigar making factory and you finish up back on the beach at a local ‘badas$’ beachfront seafood spot for lunch.

I think it took around 7 hours total and we absolutely loved it. . My wife called it a top 5 experience of her life.

We absolutely LOVED our Jeep tour. Anya, Nio, & Marco are top notch guides who show the Dominican Republic in such a wonderful light. The tour gave us a taste of their culture traveling by Jeep, horseback riding, zip line, rolling your own cigar & an authentic DR meal at a beautiful private beach…what more could we ask for! It was breathtaking and well worth your money! We highly recommend this tour for singles, couples, and families. Our daughters (12 & 8) LOVED the experience & my husband & I did as well!

My husband and I absolutely LOVED the 4×4 Jeep Safari. It was an incredible, fun day and we enjoyed every second of it. Don’t hesitate on this one. It far exceeded our expectations. The guides are amazing people and made it so much fun. There was more education than expected when we visited Cristian’s home and it was really interesting learning about local plants and fruits and learning and tasting the steps of coffee and chocolate making. The horseback riding and ziplining were amazing, safe and were for all age/fitness levels. You don’t have to climb any rickety trees or cliffs, there are stairs! They took photos the whole time and posted them to their facebook page and we can download them for free. That was an unexpected surprise that we REALLY appreciated. Lunch on the beach was wonderful. There was more road driving than we expected, but the roads are not very busy and it was easy. I would not normally be comfortable driving in a developing nation, but it was easy and the group stays together. It was worth every penny and I would recommend this tour to anyone. I loved that they keep it as a smaller group. We had 13 people total….our group consisted of teenagers to grandparents and everyone had a blast!

One of the best tours we have ever been on. I have taken several tours in all parts of the world and this is tops. Great service friendly one on one interactions. Super nice that it is a small group. We were lucky to only have one other jeep, but even if it was a full tour it still would have been very intimate. The tour guides took great care to make sure we were safe and comfortable along the way.

All of the stops seemed genuine and not a tourist trap. Be sure to bring along extra cash as you will want to make purchases along the way. The lunch on the beach was incredible. Really was the highlight of our Punta Cana stay! I would highly recommend this trip to anyone. Also driving the jeeps were a bucket list item for us too…check that off the list. Marco and Christian were so nice to meet and great listening to all of their stories.

Hands down best excursion in the Dominican republic small group guided tour of the mountains . Day full of fun and excitement and a small taste of many things from the horseback riding to zip lining in cigar manufacturing. A nice tour of the real American culture with out push to buy anything if you are inclined to buy cigars or farm products it is at your own free will. I highly recommended excursion you will not go wrong on this trip. Very pleasant and upbeat staff

If you have to choose a tour, this is the one to pick in Punta Cana. Perfect service, and it’s personalized to each person. They never rush you, and you don’t have to wait on others, like with a big tour. We paid a little extra and we able to experience the best of the Dominican Republic. We could ride or drive a Jeep Wrangler and then explore the Dominican scenery. We then went horseback riding and got to go zip lining. We went to a tobacco factory and were able to roll our own. Our host took us to a barefoot restaurant in Uvero Alt for lunch (really nice). They will take you past the areas that are touristy and into Macao. Uvero Alto is very tranquil. I rate this trip at five stars and even higher if I could.

The highlight of my entire week was the Jeep Safari. WE had such fun, and I have suggested the trip to another couple for their trip in November. We thoroughly appreciated the excursion, and our guides were wonderfully nice and helpful to us the whole time. It was abosultely amazing to get away from the resort life and discover the Dominican Republic culture. This excursion was just what we needed! Thanks.

This is by far the best excursion you can do in Punta Cana. Had a great time and would recommend everyone who comes to this area to do this. It is the best way to take in the Dominican city and country life.
