Hi Sarah, it used to be by plane but the charter company used to run the flights is no longer running so all departures are now by bus, You are correct, it IS a long ride and to be honest you get back to your hotel tired and beat! However, having said all this, it’s still my favorite tour from Punta Cana.

HI! We are going to be staying in Punta Cana in August and were interested in this package, we just had a quick question about the transportation. Is the transportation by bus or by plane? I know it’s quite a distance to we just wanted to make sure we get all the info so we can book.

Hello Katie,

Unfortunately the whale watching tour starts running on the 20th and even though the boat to get to Cayo Levantado does travel the Samana bay, no time is allotted for whale watching and there’s no active search for the whales. It’s possible to see a whale but I wouldn’t say it’s probable.

Hi there! The available day I would be interested in going would be January 19th which is one day before you open up the whale watching tour however I’m unavailable that day for a tour. Is it possible by chance to see the whales on the Samana explorer tour Even though it’s the day before the whale Samana Explorer tour begins? Or does the boat go to another part where the whale sightings are not too probable?

Hello Michelle, You would need to get to one of the listed hotels for pickup. I recommend choosing the Sheraton Four Points since you can park your car in the parking lot of Punta Cana Village which is right in front of the hotel. You would be dropped off there at the end of the day and you just get in your car and drive back to where you’re staying.

We are staying in an airbnb apt in Punta Cana. Do we need to get transportation to a resort on the list, or may we be picked up in front of the place we are staying?

Hi Kristin,

Indeed horseback riding is highly recommended to get to Salto del Limon. You can walk there (the guides walk there and back on each trip) but due to the distance I wouldn’t recommend it since you’d take longer than the rest of the group to get there and once you get there it would almost be time to return so you’d enjoy Salto del Limon less time than everyone else.

You could carry your baby on a chest strap if you feel comfortable riding a horse with him or her. The horse ride is at a slow pace so it’s as safe as it can be.

I really want to do this tour but am skeptical since I am going with my 7 month old. I really want to go to Salto de Limon waterfall but it seems every tour I have seen requires to get there by horseback. What do you recommend?
