Loved it. It began with a helpful overview and then we headed to the waves, where we all got up on the boards. The staff is excellent. Remember to take a little cash to tip the people who help you. Don’t forget to visit Jack. He’s the awesome surfing dog! I’d put this on a Punta Cana must-do list. I even enjoyed the drive out to camp because I was able to take in landscapes and learn about the island. When you see El Macao beach, you will think you’re on a different planet. So gorgeous. There are folks selling souvenirs on the beach, but they aren’t too aggressive. If you have spare money, it’s worth it to buy something from them. Surfing is my son’s new favorite thing, so I’m sure we’ll return!

The tour started at our hotel, where Daniel picked up our family of four and shared interesting information on Dominican culture and politics. Then it was surf time, the perfect introduction to the sport. It was so effective that my oldest wants to trade the university thing for a professional surfing career. Be sure to wave to surfin’ dog Jack. Thanks guys, we had a really fun time with you.

My excursions with iHeartDR were great and I really recommend this company. I did two tours and the service was consistent. On-time pickups, friendly staff, what more could you want? If I could make one suggestion for the surfing excursion, it would be to make it easier to pay for DVDs and pictures. From my past experience, pictures on a DVD cost $25 (US) and Macao Surf charged $90 for a video for two people and pictures, and you can only pay with PayPal or cash. PayPal wouldn’t work for me outside of the United States. I know your site says to bring cash, but I suggest planning to pay in cash if you want photos or video as souvenirs.

During my trip with my boyfriend to the Dominican Republic, this was easily the best experience we had. Maco Surf Camp was hands-down the best excursion we did, although we did a couple of them. They picked us up on time directly from our resort which was extremely nice, took us to an incredible beach that would have been off-limits otherwise, and were hospitable and caring throughout our time with them. They worked hard to ensure we caught a few waves, as well. If you are looking for something to do instead of laying around the resort, this is a must-do! It is worth it! A definite 5-star rating!

This excursion was incredible! The instructor was patient, kind and encouraging to me even though I am not naturally-gifted at surfing. They answered all our questions and provided lots of great information about the area during our trip to and from the hotel. I hope we do it again soon because I could not hope for a better experience! 🙂

This was the first time I ever tried surfing and the whole El Macao Surf team was great! I hope to do it again! A surfing coach is paired with each person to assist you throughout the day. I highly recommend this trip to anyone heading to Punta Cana as it was tons of fun and plenty of laughs. Definitely worth trying!

You know that it is good when your kids want to buy surfboards from their experience at this camp. They have great drivers that pick you up to carry you to your destination. It isn’t long before you are out surfing! The beach offers stunning beauty as well as great surf conditions on the water. This is a fantastic deal for the price and worth every penny for an outstanding time with plenty of fun.

There is no minimum age for the surfing lessons, the only requirement is to know how to swim.
